LOVE always tells the Truth.

Have you ever experienced that dreaded moment when you glance in the mirror and realize you’ve had something lodged in your teeth for who knows how long?

.

“I can’t believe nobody told me!” is our natural reaction.

.

I didn’t tell her to shame her, but as I watched my daughter exuding such confidence and beauty in sharing a story with friends, I could see that the pizza remains stuck in her smile was stealing the attention. I had to quietly let her know.

.

Why?

Because

 Love always tells the Truth.

.

In the same light, we took a shopping day a few weeks ago. I walked out of the dressing room with my dress belted (like I had seen styled on the mannequin). The attendant raved about how great it looked. But my girls, who know me, agreed that the dress would look more BECOMING on me without the belt. I’m so glad they were there to tell me. The dressing room attendant was doing her job… but she doesn’t KNOW and LOVE me.

My daughters do, and…

Love always tells the Truth

.

God’s Word is likened to a mirror. It shows us what is OFF, unbecoming or not fitting to our true essence + design.

.

Some might believe that the Bible is not relevant, that Jesus isn’t the only way, the perfect Truth, the Abundant Life. Some even allow us to talk with “food in our teeth” or wearing an attitude that does not “fit” who we were created to be.

.

But God is LOVE

And

Love always tells the truth.

.

The Truth is not always what we WANT to hear, but we can trust Gods voice through his living and loving Word.

.

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it’s like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the Perfect Law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”

James 1:22-25

Here’s the other beautiful thing…

.

As we continue to gaze into the mirror of God’s love, we begin to transform.

We become like that which we behold.

.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18

.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”

.

We begin to look more like LOVE. And….

.

Love always tells the truth

.

What Truth are you learning from Love today?
